🗣️🇮🇹 DMEC Benjamin Lehner is attending Offshore Energy and Storage Society’s OSES 2025 conference in Bari, Italy whereby he will be chairing the session on wave and tidal energy. The day after he will discuss combining various offshore renewables energy for climate change mitigation, energy security and a reduced impact on the ecosystem.

💡Today the session will consist of 3 presentations from Charles Donnet (Subsea7), Francesco Aristodemo (University of Calabria) and Luana Gurnari (Politecnico di Bari). The topics of these presentations range from Energie Grands Fonds’ power buoy demonstrator in deeper waters, a numerical study on the use of smoothed particle hydrodynamics, and the performance analysis of a GEMSTAR tidal energy converter in the gulf of Taranto.

☀️ Tomorrow the session’s focus on combining various offshore renewables aligns perfectly with the core mission of the EU-SCORES project, which aims to demonstrate the benefits of co-locating wind, wave, and solar energy in large-scale offshore farms to deliver a stable supply of renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a sustainable blue economy.

🇪🇺 The presentations on specific technologies like power buoys and tidal energy converters are directly relevant to the technical challenges EU-SCORES seeks to overcome, making the discussions at OSES 2025 a vital contribution to this European-wide effort.
