In the midst of the energy transition at WindEnergy Hamburg, DMEC’s CEO Benjamin Lehner shared insights and latest developments on multi-source offshore energy parks with German national radio channel Deutschlandfunk.
Throughout the interview, Benjamin elaborated on how offshore wind, offshore solar and wave energy can be combined in one space, and subsequently improve the amount of energy produced in the same area. The Dutch government also recognises these potentials, and has taken the first step by including offshore solar in the tenders.
DMEC & Deutschlandfunk also transparently address the challenges of multi-source parks. One of the biggest challenges could be harsh water conditions. These considerations are already being discussed within the EU-SCORES project, and should also be included in future projects.
Multi-source offshore energy parks was also the topic for DMEC’s WindEnergy Hamburg conference session. The session was a collaboration between the EU-SCORES and #NauticalSUNRISE project. DMEC chaired the panel and discussed the current developments and future opportunities of the technologies, together with CorPower Ocean and SolarDuck.
